Raku pottery's interesting rainbow-like glaze effects are created through a unique firing process.
The piece is sealed in a glaze with high copper content, then fired like any other ceramic, but is removed while the glaze is still molten hot.
After being placed in a bin of combustible materials, the piece ignites.
This causes a reaction with the copper, resulting in a colorful luster and irregular surface patterns.
The Om Sign (or Aum sound) is the past, the present, and the future, all that was, all that is, all that will be is om.
"A" stands for Creation
"U" stands for Preservation
"M" stands for Destruction or Dissolution
The three letters also indicates three planes of existence, heaven (swarga), earth (martya), and netherworld (patala).
OM is said to represent four states of consciousness: deep sleep (unconsciousness), dreaming, wakefulness, and bliss (samadhi).
The Buddha is a symbolic as well as spiritual representation of the enlightened one's wisdom and knowledge.
Buddhists find that gazing upon the image of the Buddha gives them a clear role model in their own paths toward enlightenment.
Aspirants gain inspiration as they contemplate the qualities embodied by the Buddha during his lifetime.
The Hamsa hand is best known for the power to protect the owner from the “evil eye” and bring happiness to the holder.
The holder of the Hamsa expects to be protected from all negative energies.
The most common negative energy being envious glares from people wishing you no good.
The Evil Eye Symbol is meant to “reflect” the power of the evil look and direct the evil intent back to the onlooker.
The evil eye is a curse believed to be cast by a malevolent glare, which is usually directed towards a person who is unaware.
Many cultures believe that receiving the evil eye will cause one misfortune, bad luck or injury.
The evil eye amulet originated in Greece, where it was known as an “apotropaic” amulet, meaning that it reflected harm.
